Ezra is described as a man upon whom the "good hand of the Lord" rested. As the leader of the second group of returnees to Jerusalem, and one devoted to seeing God's worship further revived, he was greatly blessed. Greatly blessed, as a man of the Word. A man given to its study and learning, as well as its personal application. One who knew the glory of the Scriptures, God's great favor as a result, and thus driven for the care and direction of God's people.
