Christ in Gethsemane

The cross of our Lord was more than nails, thorns, or scourging. It was more than the mockery or the scorn. It was even more than the abandonment of his own precious chosen. It was the curse of God; the judgment for his elect. The cup that Christ would drink was his own rejection and punishment in the place of the guilty; a reality most incomprehensible.

Behold the King in the garden of Gethsemane. As we witness Christ's agony there, we uncover the weight of the burden he would soon carry for us. A burden he would willfully bear, and powerfully complete, to the achievement of our salvation.
