Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lot more than simply giving him a portion of one's life. It is relinquishing all to him! As he himself taught, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me" (Matt 16:24). To be a disciple therefore is to abandon all allegiances to Jesus, come what may.
